| July 2010 News Update Greetings Highlanders! On May 22nd we had our work weekend with about a dozen or so people showing up and they were ready to go! We got the lawn cut, the shelter was swept, brush was cut around the restrooms and the inside of the restrooms were finished off. We also cleaned up a number of trails where the trees were over the trails. Now, if only we could get the pump fixed. On a serious note, I have gotten complaints of ATVs running down Parrish Road (from Hwy. 17 to Hwy. H) at a high rate of speed. The speed limit there is only 10 M.P.H. because of the houses on each side of the road. These home owners are warning us that they are thinking of going to the town board and will be asking to close this route ifwe don’t SLOW DOWN. Now I realize that a great deal of these speeders don’t even belong to our club but we must do everything we can to stop those who are not obeying the speed limit. If we lose this route, we won’t have access to the Parrish Cafe and we won’t be able to cross Hwy. 17 into the Harrison trails. Also, we must try to control the ATV riders from riding on Hwy. H from Fisher’s Bar to the top of the hill (to Five Cent Road). We will be talking about this at our July 12th meeting. A lot of us have the yellow trail patrol vests. I think it is time we started using them. Our annual fall outing will be held on September 23rd, 24th and 25th. It will be held in Hayward, WI. We will be staying at the LCO Casino, 13767 West County B. For motel and campground reservations, call 800-526-2274. Tell them you are with the Parrish Highlander ATV Club, Group # 0923. The rates are: • Campground - $16.50 per night • Motel on Thursday - $58.41 per night Friday & Saturday nights - $68.31 Coupons with the motel are: $5.00 Blackjack $5.00 Slots $1.00 Buffet $3.00 Bingo Reservations are first come first served. We have 25 rooms reserved so act NOW. If you have any further questions, don’t bug me with them, call Harlan Mannigel at 715-693-6903 or Joe Manago at 715-536-3402. These are the intelligent people in our club and they assured me that between them and their wives, they know everything. (Of course, if any mistakes are made, they will blame their wives.) Just one further note – the date for the Wolf River Riders 5th year anniversary get together has been changed from September to August 21st. This is an overnighter. If you plan on camping, call the Wolf’s Den at 715-484-4413. That’s all I have for now, see you in the woods! Ride Safe, Ride Smart - Bud Bradford, President
